This course is suitable for anyone who owns an overlocker and would like to know how to set up and use it more confidently.

Getting to know your overlocker

By the end of the class learners will understand how to set up and use their overlockers more confidently.

This will include:

  • Threading the overlocker
  • Test stitch for quality and balance needles’ and loopers’ tensions.
  • Design of the needle.
  • Changing/inserting needle.
  • Adjusting stitch lengths.
  • Adjusting differential feed (if applicable).
  • Checking the upper and lower knives/blades.
  • Test stitch for quality after adjustments.
  • Basic maintenance.

Any extra cost incurred for the course and equipment to be provided by the student: For the first session you will need to buy/bring: Your own machine in good working order, the machine’s
instructions manual, 4 spooles of thread, tweezers, scissors,pieces of fabric, a pen or pencil.

This course could lead to: Sewing/dressmaking courses, advanced overlocker’s course, upholstery, patchwork or quilting courses.
