Patchwork & Quilting for All Abilities
Both Beginners and those with experience are welcome on this course. You will continue to improve your patchwork and quilting techniques.
For Beginners this is an excellent introduction to Patchwork and Quilting Techniques tailored to the pace of the learner.
You will be encouraged to complete small projects beginning with a look at colour, patterns, fabrics and threads you will then be shown how to create four basic blocks. One of these blocks can be used to complete a small project; one or two from the following:
a bag, a tablemat, a pot holder, a mug rug, a cushion or a table runner.
Improvers willwork one a mix of projects from a quilt, a wall hanging to a sewing machine cover depending on what you prefer to do.
It is for anyone with an interest in patchwork, quilting and related textile subjects.
During the course you will be given a free choice of what you would like to make or you may wish to work on a project set by the tutor. Topics will be selected in consultation with individuals or the group as required. Progress will be regularly reviewed.
Any extra cost incurred during course: Students must provide all the fabric necessary for their project although some certain specialist items will be available for purchase from the tutor at times. A course requirements list will be sent out once you are enrolled, including a list of local patchwork and quilting suppliers. The total cost will depend on the size of the project undertaken – the average cost of making a full-size quilt is approx £120.00 and a small project is £30.00
Equipment to be provided by student: Sewing machine, basic sewing kit, rotary cutter, acrylic patchwork ruler and cutting mat. An iron and ironing board is provided by the tutor at each class. Please note all machines will be PAT tested on the first session.
